The Management of Waltja is a partnership between the Management Committee members,
the Executive and the Manager with the support of all other Waltja personnel.
Every 12 months Waltja holds its Annual General Meeting, at which a Management Committee
of not less than 22 people are elected from its membership. Members also elect office bearers,
namely Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Public Officer, Treasurer and Vice Treasurer.
These office bearers make up the Executive Committee.

A majority of Management Committee members must be appointed from remote communities.
This is achieved by calling for remote area nominations first at the Annual General Meeting.
The Management Committee meets at least 3 times per year. They are responsible for setting the overall goals and objectives of Waltja and making decisions about policies and priorities.
The Executive Committee meets approximately every 6 weeks. They are responsible for setting direction and making decisions about projects and programs. They work more closely with the full range of Waltjas services and activities with agencies and remote communities.

Sub and Steering committees are formed by Management and Executive members
to address specific issues as the need arises.
Subcommittees can include members from outside Waltjas Management Committee.
They provide specialist information to the Management and Executive Committees.
The Management Committee employs Aboriginal workers and Aboriginal and
non-Aboriginal support workers to run a range of programs, forums, workshops,
training and cultural activities.
