Pippirri Wiimaku 'For the Little Kids'

'Pipirri Wiimaku' – "for the little kids" details activities stemming from Waltja’s Child Care Programs in Central Australia. It documents a number of meetings and conferences where Aboriginal women have come together to have their say on Child Care issues with a focus on adapting Western models of child care to fit in with traditional cultural practices. It also documents Waltja’s Child Care Conference held in Alice Springs which brought together more than 100 Aboriginal women from the Northern Territory, Western Australia and South Australia.

Also included in Pipirri Wiimaku– "for the little kids" is Pipirri Kanyilpayi – "Caring for Children". This documents Waltja’s research in to Aboriginal Child Rearing Practices in Walungurru (Kintore) and provides valuable information about child rearing practises on a remote Aboriginal Community. It contrasts Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal methods of child rearing and through the use of case studies and observations, follows Aboriginal families through daily child rearing practices.
