Waltja’s Kaltjaku (for culture) program assists people to stay connected with culture and traditional practices. This is good for mental health and for keeping culture alive. These photos are of collecting Ininti (batwing coral) seeds out on country. High up in the trees the seeds were shining in all colors – from dark to bright red, from orange to yellow- a range of seeds to make necklaces from. It is hard work to find the trees, gather the seeds, sort them into colours and then burn the holes in them ready for threading as jewellery. But it is also rewarding and an opportunity for getting together, story telling and exercise.
