Waltja in collaboration with CLC and the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Traditional Owners, have been working with the Areyonga and Watarrrka community to support young people who would like to attend boarding school.
We had a lot of interest from young people at Areyonga for various school around Australia. Waltja has been working alongside the families in collecting information and documents to support their application.
We have had one successful student to be accepted into Clontarf boarding school in Perth. We are very proud to announce that 2 former Students from Unity College had graduate for year 12, where the funding supported family members to attend the graduation in Murray Bridge to support the young ladies.
Watarrka is a very small area with 3 different outstations where the student attend Lilla school together, Lilla school educates students from transition to year 6, the older students are happy to attend the school to continue learning. We have not had a lot of interest from there as they received funding to build a new area for year 7 – 9 which will be built by 2019.
Waltja continued to visit these communities to support the school and the young people in learning about Boarding school and what boarding school can offer if they chose to attend.
Waltja has been working closely with the local schools, clinics, and other support agencies in the communities to support the families from Areyonga and Watarrka area.
Thank you to Uluru Rent Money for providing the funding for this project.
