Waltja employed Emma Williamson to run workshops at the Aged and Disability Festival at Ross River campground as well as in the Mt. Liebig and Finke remote communities.
Emma took all the supplies and sewing machines with her so that everything was available on the community and people just had to rock up and get going.
This program also experimented with different types of natural dye that could be found in the shop or in the bush. Turmeric spice, flowers from the bushes and bark from trees were boiled in large pots. Fabric was dyed and then used to sew bags and cushion covers. Even the men got into making there own creations!
Thanks Emma you were awesome.
