Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education would like to congratulate Indigenous student and Titjikala School Assistant Teacher Roger Wilyuka for the recognition of his work at this year’s Northern Territory Young Achiever Awards, celebrating leadership, vision, and the achievements of Territorians aged 14 to 27 years.

One of nine awardees, Mr Wilyuka collected the Glencore McArthur River Mining Regional and Rural Initiative Award at the 5 April presentations.

Acting Executive Director Schools South, Stewart Moyses said: “Roger creates positive influences for young members of the remote community, encouraging healthy and active lifestyles.”

“Recently, he introduced an Empowering Schools Program to inspire young dads to be involved with their children’s education, and he is delivering the fathers and sons reading program, Boys Can Read Too,” he said. “Roger’s school and community are very proud of his work.” Roger is studying Certificate III in Education Support at Batchelor Institute in Alice Springs
