'Doing Good Work with Families'

Sonja Dare who is Waltja’s Social Media worker was doing a short-term contract at Ngurratjuta Iltja Ntjarra – Many Hands Art Centre. She was working at the art centre 4 days a week and 1 day at Waltja.

Sonja went on a bush trip to Ormiston Gorge with some of the artists  – Gloria, Lenie, Mervyn, Kathy and Sophia. The trip was organised by Carmen from the Big hArt Namatjira Project.

The Namatjira project is a long-term arts project to celebrate Albert Namatjira’s life and legacy. Three people, Anne, Claire and Artie all made big donations to the project. As a reward they got to go on a bush trip with the artists. The artists taught them how to do watercolour paintings in the style of Albert Namatjira.
Everyone had a great day, learning how to paint, and learning stories about Ormiston Gorge. The Big hArt Namatjira Project documentary is coming out later this year. Go see it!
