'Doing Good Work with Families'

Marcus Williams is an Arrernte man from Santa Teresa Community, also known as Ltyentye Apurte. Santa Teresa is 90km South East of Alice Springs along a bumpy road. Marcus completed 5 years of studying a Batchelor of Education through Charles Darwin University. His graduation ceremony was held in Darwin and some of his family made the special trip up north.  Marcus started studying in 2012 through a special program run by the Catholic Education NT called GOO- Growing Our Own: promoting local people to get qualifications and be teachers in their own community. Marcus attended high school in Darwin at St Johns and finished year 11. It was a long 5 years of studying that saw Marcus not only do teaching placements in Santa Teresa but also in Alice Springs and much further south to Geelong in Victoria. In 2019 is his first year as a qualified teacher. Marcus has his own class teaching grade 5/6 at Ltyentye Apurte Catholic School. Marcus is a strong leader for the school, and is part of the  Catholic Aboriginal Leadership Team (CALT).
