Aged Care and Disability Services
NDIS Program
Our NDIS provides support to people with disability in accessing NDIS fund, which can be used for a range of supports both at home and out of the home services. Supports include, but not limited to assistance with everyday activities such as personal care, meal preparation and household tasks. The NDIS funding can also be used for other supports such as transport to social, community and economic activities and access to other disability and mainstream services.
Our NDIS team currently works with about 40 clients across Central Australia and hoping to support more people needing the service this year.
Currently, we have participants in Alice Springs, Hermannsburg, Mount Liebig, Papunya, Nyirrpi, Yuelamu, Ti Tree, Atitjere, Engawala, utopia, Santa Teresa, Kintore and Ampilatwatja. If you do not see your community here, please contact Waltja office. We can sit down with you and your carer to discuss your needs and how we can cater to those needs. We are here to help.

Remote Community Connector
Remote Community Connector Program (RCC) is part of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) aimed at assisting Australian in remote and isolated communities to better understand and navigate the NDIS processes and requirements. The RCC support participants, carers, and families to provide a better understanding of the NDIS access process and work as a bridge to connect the participants to the program coordinator.
In 2021, our NDIS team facilitated RCC training in our HQ for RCC trainees from different communities across Central Australia. The aim of the training was to support the RCC to understand the NDIS scheme, how the scheme works, and how to share information about the scheme to the community members who may need supports. The training also focused on helping RCC to understand the NDIS plan structure, funded supports and how to access funded supports so they can help participants utilise their NDIS plans in the communities.
Waltja Provides Remote Community Connectors Services in the following communities:
- Yuelamu
- Laramba
- Ti Tree
- Wilora
- Engawala
- Atitjere (Harts Range)
- Bonya
Through the NDIS funded supports, the Waltja NDIS Team has successfully worked with a young participant to successfully complete the trainings and now working as a Remote Community Connector. Waltja, using his NDIS funded supports also assisted him to complete the driver training and now with a driver’s license he is able to visit participants and easily engage with the community as part of his remote community connector role. He says he feels confident and engaged because he is able to freely mobilise and participate in many community activities. This is one of the success stories that Waltja aims to replicate across central Australia remote communities.
