'Doing Good Work with Families'

Willowra community are very excited about the new Aged Care Centre being built in their community. Aged care and disability services in  Willowra are delivered by the Central Desert Regional Council currently providing social activities and meal hampers.

The building of an Aged Care Centre in Willowra will allow for a greater range of services to be provided to aged care and disability clients. Cooked meals, laundry, personal care, social supports and social activities are some of these services.

The new building also means that new jobs will be created for local people (Yapa) from the community to work in the Aged Care  Centre.   Another great news story coming out of this project is that the Central Desert Regional Council have employed local Yapa as builders.

Under the supervision of John Marshall, the Central Desert Regional Council’s builder trainer, local men are being provided with on the job training and support to further develop their skills as builders.   The new Aged Care Centre will be built by the end of 2017 and is planned to be opened early next year.
