Art from the Heart
When women come to Alice Springs for short stays, Waltja offers canvases and art supplies. Their paintings, jewellery and crafts are sold through Waltja’s gallery store.
The artist is paid straight away, and profits go back into community programs. A strong concept put forward by the directors is that we pay the same amount for an artwork whether you are a famous artist or just doing your best. The funds raised by art sales go a long way towards promoting the concept of self-determination and also helping others in times of need.
Every piece of art carries a story of family, culture and country.

Media training
The Waltja Media unit supports young Aboriginal trainees in learning web site design, social media skills and professional graphic design.
Meaningful Work
We provide Aboriginal women from remote communities the opportunity to earn funds by creating artwork for sale.
