Waltja Tjutangku Palyapayi is in the Luritja language and means
“doing good work with families.”

Who We Are

Waltja began in 1997, when women from desert communities came together to keep families strong and culture alive. Today, Waltja works in over 20 communities across Central Australia, across nine languages and working together as one family.

Our Board of Directors are senior Aboriginal women from remote communities. They are elected at our Annual General Meeting and guide all decisions.

“Waltja is home. One family.” — April Martin, former Chairperson

What We Stand For

  • Family first – the heart of Aboriginal community life
  • Culture strong – everything we do is grounded in culture and language
  • Community-led – decisions come from the women and families we work with
